Private rockets take off
Last jully, the private space industry started it’s own journey. Falcon 1 (on the picture), a rocket developed by SpaceX, private company delivered a Malaysian satellite into orbit. That was rocket’s second succesful launch. First launch Falcon 1 made was to carry a dummy payload. Space X plans to launch larger Falcon 9 (picture below), which is capable of bringing 7 astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS). Eventually Falcon 9 may become NASA’s preferred booster for manned flights to space. Falcon 9 is liquid oxygen (LOX) and rocket-grade kerosene (RP-1) powered launch vehicle and can bring to low Earth orbit at least 10 tones of payload. For instance, Falcon payload to low Earth orbit is just 670 kilograms.Related posts:
